Applewood Heights Secondary School  has a new Regional Sports Program that started this Fall.

Physical activity is crucial to the way students think and feel.  It has a positive impact on overall physical health, mental well-being and on the capacity to learn.  Our Regional Sports Program, open to all eligible students in Mississauga and Brampton, is focused on delivering a quality physical education program that increases students’ interests and active involvement in fitness, athletics, and leadership.  These opportunities will create and promote the development of healthy active living and leadership skills that can be utilized within the school and greater community.

Key features of the Regional Sport Program (RSP) include:

·   Physical education all year with regional students completing 8 courses over the 4 years of secondary school (1 physical education course each semester, meaning two credit-bearing courses each year)

·   Required involvement in co-curricular athletics and/or community involvement to build leadership skills

·   Development of personal fitness, healthy lifestyle and interpersonal skills

Applewood Heights Secondary School Regional Sports Program is an inclusive, athletic focused learning environment that supports diversity in education through a commitment to healthy active living and provides a variety of leadership and healthy lifestyle opportunities for all students.

This Fall students currently in Grades 8 and Grade 9 can apply to our Regional Sports Program for September, 2014. To have friends and neighbours get more information please come to our Open House on November 19th at 7 p.m. at  Applewood Heights Secondary School, or call 905-279-6090.
