BTB Prep Academy AT Central Commerce C.I.
Announcement: Central Commerce Collegiate Institute in Toronto, in partnership with DeenUP Athletics, has launched Bigger Than Basketball (BTB) Academy for the 2014-2015 basketball season.
Applications are open to players in grades 9-12, born between 2000 and 1995, are eligible. Limited spaces are also available to postgraduate students. Application form is available here.

About The Program
BTB Academy sets out to create elite student athletes through the new prep program hosted at Central Toronto Academy. It’ provides an opportunity for players to train in Toronto through an intensive year long program, designed to take your game to the next level.
Located in downtown Toronto, this full-time prep program offers an unmatched blend of academics and athletics. The program provides players individualized training, with a focus on increasing academic accomplishments, skill development, and personal training plans to optimize strength and conditioning. BTB Academy brings everything you need to increase your options to play at the next level, including: high level of coaching, on-site weight room facility, Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and an opportunity to compete at invitational American prep school competitions and tournaments.
Coaches and Trainers
Patrick Kalala – Player Development Specialist & Head CoachPatrick played University of New Brunswick (UNB – CIS) and completed his post-secondary experience with Loyalist College (CCAA), finishing the year averaging 21+ points per game to go with 4 Rebounds and 3 Assists per game. He was the Athlete of the Year at Loyalist and an OCAA First Team All Star.
Babatunde Ibrahim Tiamiyu – Strength and Conditioning Trainer As the Strength and Conditioning Trainer, Ibrahim brings a plethora of experience and energy to BTB Academy. He has 10+ years of experience working with youth in leadership and recreational camps and programs. He’s a NCCP Level 1 (National Coaching Certification Progam) certified Basketball Coach. He is also a college prospect for the Toronto Association of Basketball Officials (TABO) and the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials.
Adeel Sahibzada – Program Director Adeel played high school basketball at Eastern Commerce Prep, before CIS Basketball at University of New Brunswick (UNB), and presently at Guelph University (BU) on a basketball scholarship and completing a Masters in Political Science. He has played with a wide array of professional basketball players and recently participated in a tournament in France, representing Canada in “Tournoi Mondial Basket (2013)”. As a coach and trainer with DeenUP Athletics, he has worked with several elite level athletes who are pursuing NCAA, CIS, and NBA opportunities. Training includes intensive plyometrics and cardiovascular exercises. BTB Academy emphasizes core strength workouts, full-body stability and control, and advanced Nike SPARQ resistance training. The coaches and trainers behind the program seek to improve players’ individual skill sets as well as essential abilities such as court awareness and Basketball IQ.
