This week a great thing happened we posted Player Rankings for Boys U14 Major Bantam in anticipation of the coming OBA Tournament April 26th @ York University.
A few things came to light as a result of the Rankings coming out via www.gameshootersport.com
1. It definitely sparked some debate among players and parents which is always good for the kids and the Sport of Basketball.
2. We now can see that most players care more for there personal ranking than there team we posted the actual OBA Team Rankings and the response was minimal compared to what players and parents will say and respond to in comparison to other players & a list.
3. There should be more debate as to how your "TEAM" finished and how your team thought of by your competition limited debate on that end .. teams are ok with winning a medal at the lowest levels and getting statistics.
4. There are many critics of CIA Bounce within the age group or maybe just in general .. many uniformed critics who need to understand how Basketball actually works. All clubs have the ability to have there own success and push there players to achieve whatever they want ask your Club Admin they can help you if that is within there agenda.
5. Kids who are not even on Basketball Canada JDP are upset about not being in a Top 35 Ranking you should be more upset about that issue than a ranking on www.gameshootersport.com
6. Being Ranked doesn't make you as a player or break you.. if you don't like a ranking then work to improve and be on someone's rankings if that is what is important to you .. running around complaining and not practicing will not make you any better.
7. Basketball as a sport is the most critical of its players and there skills even the best players in the world face criticism and rankings they don't agree with if you don't like criticism Basketball is probably not the sport for you, If your offended by Rankings and Polls Basketball is not the Sport for you take up Judo or Boxing ..
The Media is only here to bring light to the sport and in this case an age group of players currently in Middle School... being on GameShooter Sport does not mean your going to make the NCAA or even play in high school it means we are noticing your ability and sharing it with your friends/family and community.. If a bad ranking motivates you as a player or coach then it worked .. however the real purpose of all of this is to feature kids Basketball when we can and as much as possible ..
