THE ONE AND DONE REALITY - NCAA BASKETBALL

THE ONE AND DONE REALITY - NCAA BASKETBALL

MORE THAN JUST A GAME

MORE THAN JUST A GAME - THE ONE AND DONE REALITY !!

For the past few weeks of insane College Basketball Action we have been treated to Great Conference Tournaments as well as and Amazing NCAA Tournament going into the Final Four in Texas this weekend as a Basketball fan of the game itself the past few weeks have been like Summer in March infront of our TV Sets HD or 3D ..

However even with all this great Basketball Action there are people more concerned with the Business of the Game than the actual game we have heard many complaints about the 1 and done issue, and the issue of NCAA player Unions raising the draft age, Forcing Players to stay more than 2 years etc ..etc.. etc.. All of these issues highlight one thing the NCAA is more than About the kids and Sport its a Huge Business trying to protect itself from there
own Athletes/Employee's/Student/"Basketball Players" which is sad because those kids are the ones with the most to lose.

The Main Issue Brought to Light - "ONE AND DONE" College Basketball Player:

This issue was created by the NCAA and the NBA by forcing players to play 1 year after there graduating year of High School where previously players who had no intention of going to college long term just entered the draft. Now you have Players the NBA wants burning a year in College because they "have to" upsetting fans who want them to stay at there institutions for there enjoyment and the Schools gain.

Most of the people you will hear voicing the displeasure with One & Done players are either :

1. Coaches - Paid by the Schools/NCAA
2. Announcers or TV Media - Paid to cover College Sports & NCAA Basketball
3. Alumni or Current Students - Immediate Fan Base who Benefit from the Players Staying for there Pleasure and School Exposure

They all have one things in common they benefit more from the players while they are playing in the NCAA than the actual player does playing infront of them or for them. Jobs are on the line and money is a huge factor in all of there opinions about what these player do with there own lives College Basketball is an industry that does not want to lose there product early before they can make enough money off of that talent they are now saying 1yr is not enough time to profit off of Tyler Ennis, Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine and the list goes on.. They forget talent replaces talent fans find new players to love and enjoy its really not the end of the NCAA if players come and go.

More Sports Business For you :

1. A Potential Lottery Pick while playing College Basketball is advised to Insure his body should anything happen during the course of that Free Season Do you know how much the monthly Premium would be on a person who is potentially work - 15 million dollars guaranteed ? The School does not pay this insurance even if they know the kid is a guaranteed NBA or NFL player the kids parents or family would have to in order to insure that the kids potential talent should anything go wrong they will still be paid for in event of injury prior to his pro career..
The cost for the parents and family would be in the ball-park of 8k-10k per month until he is drafted while playing college basketball should they choose to insure the player.

What does this mean : Players with Wiggins type of ability cannot afford to stay insured or uninsured the NCAA would give them ZERO funds if they got hurt and lost there dream of playing in NBA yet they are fine with making 800 million per year via the NCAA Tournament off of free Labour.

2. Syracuse Basketball is worth more than the entire CIS every sport , The Entire CCAA every Sport and probably employs more people directly and indirectly in admin and media than the entire College Sports System in Canada and that is just one NCAA School so the issue here is "Money" and Jobs not player development and Grades they need the good players to stay and feed the system which is fine but how many people can make money off of kids before its wrong or too many.

3. A full Athletic Scholarship (NCAA) leaves a short fall of about $2200.00 dollars for any Student Athlete from the best to the worst why is there a short fall when the NCAA makes so much money the player and families again must fill that void. If your Canadian and the School is far from home your shortfall is greater for travel and expenses again the arguement for anyone with the ability is why stay and incur costs that "maybe" you cannot handle.

This is just the small Truth about the System and why people say what they say sometimes its a paid opinion fans and coaches ..
