The Carleton Raven'S Question ...
The Carleton Raven's as of today have won 11 out of the last 13 CIS Mens Basketball Championships in Canada they are more than a dynasty they are the Walmart of Canadian Basketball they run over teams like a run-away train killing all the small business owners in the process which usually means any and all the competition in the CIS Final 8 Tournament in 2015.
The Question that will always remain and at this point maybe even put a cloud of doubt on all of the great accomplishments by the Ravens is the question of what would they be like in an NCAA Conference could they do the same or sorry could they compete day to day and be in he Big Dance "March Madness".
This is what we believe at GameShooter Sport :
1. Yes Carleton could fit in somewhere in Division 1 Basketball or D2 Basketball and achieve a measure of success.
* we are not sure if they would win any conference 11 out of 13 years in D1 Basketball actually we are very sure they would not .. NCAA rules are different Training and recruiting other highly paid coaches with an equal or greater will to win .. its hard to say people would not adjust to the Carleton Formula*
2. What would the Current CIS Champs do in the 2015 Tournament this week ?
* 100% they would win the Play in Game vs Manhattan/Hampton they are worthy of the field of 64 with the current Team Both Scrubb Brothers in the Mix without the Scrubb Brothers it would be difficult to guarantee victory vs any D1 Team the Scrubb Bros are the Magic in the Circus as they say.*
3. Should the Raven's Leave the CIS ?
* 100% yes they should they should join the NAIA or a Small Conference D1 or D2 Conference and test themselves in a U.S Conference and answer some of the speculation the excellence they have shown should have rubbed off on the other programs over the past 13 years but it seems only a few schools have really caught on to what it takes to Challenge the Ravens and even in the attempt to Challenge losing by 20+ points not enough of a consistent challenge by the field to warrant Carleton staying.*
4. Is Dave Smart an Evil Basketball Genius ?
* Yes he certainly is he knows how to prepare his team run a detailed system of excellence and recruit players who can and will survive his demands in order to achieve Excellence. Would this model work in the NCAA with there rules on practice time and off season training not to mention recruiting we don't think so people don't realize how much time a Carleton player puts into becoming better each day you simply cannot practice as much as Carleton in the NCAA in Season or Off Season formally.
5. Why hasn't Carleton Left for the NCAA already ?
* Ask the Athletic Director its all About the Money $$$ .. becoming and NCAA D1 program is more about money than your team success there certain things needed to even join certain conferences such as Stadium size, Conference Fee's and Alumni engagement not to mention all of your teams even your bad teams must Join they often want 3-4 teams for example Volleyball, Football and Soccer are those team D1 quality at Carleton nope so the Basketball team cannot make the move as yet .. biggest factor being money Carleton sports or any CIS Team for that matter fail to generate the revenue needed to join any major conference or Mid-Major its an expensive club the NCAA.*
6. Will Dave Smart Ever Leave Carleton ?
* We don't think so based on all his interview and detailed answers outlining what he would require to leave there is no better Job for him than Carleton. Mr.Smart is already deep in the mix in Basketball Canada the need for movement to the NCAA as an individual doesn't seem to be a driving force people already believe he can Coach on any level his next step should be NBA Assistant maybe not College.*
We believe the moment CIS Schools start to offer real Scholarships to players across the board the Dynasty at Carleton will slow down due to natural causes "Competition" Scholarships will bring accountability to all the participating CIS Schools coaches will finally have to show improvement and winning results as of right now for most schools losing to Carleton is ok and acceptable when all of the teams want to win only then will it be fair - GameShooter Sport
