Sr. Blue Raiders Crowned St. Michael’s/Nike Tournament Champions for the Third Consecutive Year

The Sr. Blue Raiders were crowned St. Michael’s/Nike Tournament Champions for the third consecutive year on Sunday, January 11, 2015.
The defending champions kicked off the tournament on Thursday, January 8, with a 78-31 win against Jean Vanier, to advance to the quarter-finals against Holy Trinity School and coming away with a 78-48 win.
In the semi-finals, the Blue Raiders took on the second ranked team in the GTA, St. Edmond Campion. St. Michael’s was leading by more than 20 points for the majority of the game and easily came away with a 67-46 win.
The championship round was a rematch of last year’s final against Fr. Henry Carr. Prior to the game, the Raiders were surprised with a locker room visit from Toronto Raptors player, Jonas Valanciunas, whose speech inspired the boys to come out flying. By the second quarter, the Raiders were leading with a score of 40-11. In the end, St. Mike's proved to be too much to handle and secured the tournament title with a 79-46 win.
Danillo Djuricic ’17 and Kaion Julien Grant ’15 were named tournament all-stars and Nelson Kaputo ’15 was awarded tournament MVP.
