ONTARIO BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES FEE INCREASES FOR 2014-15 SEASON
Effective August 15, 2014, Ontario Basketball will be implementing a club affiliation membership fee increase and raising the Ontario Cup Provincial Championships team registration fee.
The following table outlines the fee increases.
**plus $1,000 performance bond
Ontario Basketball has not raised the club affiliation fee in over a decade and the overall cost can be shared among all members within each club over the course of the full basketball season. The fee increase has become necessary to meet the growing costs of running the business and to bring added value to its members by introducing a Club President's Meeting, create new and support existing regional leagues and increase membership services (i.e. customer service).
The Ontario Cup team entry fee has been raised in an effort to align with the average cost of sanctioned tournaments in the province, provide added value to the pinnacle event and make the tournament self-sustainable. More specifically, the raising of the fee is to off-set continuing challenges in escalating facility fees, game officiating fees and to increase minor officiating training and retention by raising their per game fees to $10.00. The entry fee will be the same for both shot-clock and non-shot-clock age categories.
Additionally, following feedback received from our member clubs and sanctioned tournament hosts, Ontario Basketball has revised the sanctioned tournament fee structure to a single administrative fee per tournament. Beginning next season, the fee for a sanctioned tournament will be $40.00 (not $5.00 per team); regardless of the number of teams.
Ontario Basketball trusts that members will understand the necessities of these rate increases and look forward to providing improved quality of services and programs.
