Next Stop HiGH School - Series (EJ ALTUNA)

Next Stop HiGH School - Series (EJ ALTUNA)
ST.ELIZABETH CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL - YORK REGION

He could very well be one of the Best point guards you have never really heard of coming out of Grade 8 in the GTA .. people will describe him as small, quick and relentless in his game play and not too mention a tremendous competitor. His name is EJ Altuna from Maple, Ontario he will be attending St.Elizabeth Catholic High School this Fall in York Region.

EJ on the Rep circuit is probably most known as a Vaughan Panther where he was there Star PG for many years leading a good team to many great results however in Grade 6 he came over to Bounce Sedore helping to build that team to an eventual Champion @ the Bantam level Grade 7.

EJ greatest achievement thus far in our opinion on the Basketball court was this year when he lead his own team CIA Bounce McKoy Grade 8 to a 6th place finish in Division 1 he was the only PG on the Team and the Best PG on the team he lead the team in scoring and assists and 2nd in Steals he is a true "LION HEART" EJ is the shortest guy on every team not just his own Team. EJ is what is known as a Real Pro always give 100% all of the time makes open shots, makes open lay-ups and hits big shots when you need them. We would have to give credit where credit is due first to his parents for training him so well and 2nd to Coach Kevin Dennis @ CIA Bounce for picking talent over size on that tryout day when EJ showed up to Bounce because we know Coach Erue was saying go big we have a ton of guards it all worked out well as EJ has never been close to ever being a cut since.

Strengths of EJ's Game :

1. Shooting - Mid Range and 3 bomb "He's Gunner"
2. Passing and Court Vision - EJ makes the right plays most of the time he is a trusted ball handler
3. Defense - Very Stingy on the ball defender @ his size he has to be and he is a ball pressure guard
4. Leadership - Leads by example his fitness is always high level and his practice work ethic is unmatched

EJ will start at the PG from Day 1 in High School the benefit of always being small you get to work on the one position your whole life he has always been a true PG he will have a huge advantage vs players trying
to learn the position.

We see EJ as a great High School player and a cant miss CIS player in the future and if he grows he could go NCAA at some level his work ethic can bridge the gap.
