Likely To Get Invites
Dwight Powell, Stanford
Dwight Powell has been projecting on mock NBA Draft boards for a couple of years now and this year is the one that he will finally leave school and actually be on the official one.  He averaged 14 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 32 minutes for the Cardinal that went to the Sweet Sixteen and his size and quickness plus a bourgeoning offensive skill set equals very good pro potential.

Jordan Bachynski, Arizona St
Bachynski is what you could call a rare combination in the NBA – size and mobility.  He’s a legit 7-footer (7’2” according to his player bio) and he can play some defense.  Bachynski led the NCAA in blocks per game (4.03) and total blocks (133) and has a decent back to the basket game.  He averaged 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 30.9 minutes of action for the Sun Devils and was responsible for a few game saving blocks also.  He is on the older side (he’ll be 25 in September), which means this is what you’ll likely get but you can’t ever teach height.

Melvin Ejim, Iowa St
Ejim is an incredibly dynamic athlete that showed the complete package this year earning him Player of the Year honours in an ultra competitive Big 12 Conference.  His first three seasons he showed he could be a very good supporting player and could be counted on when needed.  In his senior year, Ejim showed how that he could also carry a team.  He led the conference with 17.8 points to go with his 8.4 boards, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 32 minutes per game.  This was the same guy that led the conference in rebounding last season.  Yes, REBOUNDING!  Ejim has a very good set of skills, both inside and out, and can really blossom into a good player at the next level with a more wide open game and less zone defenses.

Chad Posthumus, Morehead St
Posthumus had a very good senior season for Morehead St.  He isn’t flashy and he won’t dazzle you with his money three ball.  What he does best is clean the glass.  He’s 6’11”, 265 lbs. of rebounding machine.  He was fourth in the NCAA in rebounds per game (10.9) and in total rebounds (370) to go along with his 9.6 points.   He is a space eater and can provide some defense so I would think that he could get an invite to Portsmouth on those two things alone.

Could Get Invites
Jason Calliste, Oregon
I have always been a big fan of Calliste since his days starting for Detroit with Ray McCallum, Jr.  He averaged 12.7 points for an Oregon team that almost got to the Sweet Sixteen but the most impressive thing about it is how – shooting well coming off the bench for more than half the season.  He’s always been very good from the arc (a career 36.7% at Detroit) but was absolutely incredible for the Ducks shooting 50.4% Making 65 of his 129 attempts.  That is companied by his 87.3 FT% (making 137-of-157) and 52.8 FG% (115-of-218) making him what you could call a very good shooter.  Calliste also averaged 2.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in his 26.5 minutes.  He’s a little on the smallish side for an SG in the NBA but he could still be a very good pro.

Matthew Wright, St. Bonaventure
Wright was looking like the star on last year’s Bonnies but he seemed to tank almost from the start and never fully looked like the player that showed flashes of brilliance when they made their run to the NCAA Tournament.  This year, he came back to show that he was that player.  He averaged 16.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.9 minutes for a tough St. Bonaventure team.  As the senior leader he was top ten in Atlantic-10 Conference in scoring (sixth), assists (tenth), free throw percentage (first with 86.1%) and 3-PT made (seventh with 2.1 per game).  This resume could be enough to warrant an invite to the showcase.

Murphy Burnatowski, Colgate
Burnatowski was a second team All Patriot League selection this year for a team that was middle of the pack.  Regardless, he’s got a good frame (6’7”, 230 lbs.) for a small forward and could be a very good pro player and could garner an invite.  He averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals in 32 minutes for the Red Raiders as a senior.

Likely Not Getting Invites
Brady Heslip, Baylor – He came on late this year but people may not see him more than a one trick pony.
Richard Amardi, Oregon – Has great size and athleticism but being inconsistent and prone to foul trouble he may not have wowed enough this year to get to Portsmouth.
Jahenns Manigat, Creighton – I love this kid but a defensive glue guy usually gets passed up for a freak athlete that could develop into more down the road.
Laurent Rivard, Harvard – Like Heslip, Rivard could be seen as a shooter only but he’s coming from the Ivy League, not the Big 12.
Manny Arop, Indiana St – Arop is unfortunately playing a position that has many, many good players in it and he doesn’t have the necessary resume to bump many of them for a spot.
Dejan Kravic, Texas Tech – This former York University player has the size and strength but his numbers are not spectacular and there are many that could outshine him on that alone which is too bad.
