OFSAA FINAL - GAME IN REVIEW WRAP-UP 2014
The Final whistle has been blown on a what was an exciting season of Boy High School Basketball across Ontario ..
The Champion has been crowned for 2014 the Oakwood Barons are the Best High School Team in Ontario winning a close game 40-38 over Henry Carr. This game was much anticipated and lived up to some of the hype during the last quarter where the kids shook off some of the nerves and played a better offensive game in the final 8 minutes. This game although competitive needed a shot clock at times there were possessions lasting more than 1 minute during the course of this game for both teams.
What surprised us the most is neither team really went full court man or zone the pace was more of a tactical pace than the race some might have expected from Henry Carr a team known to have elite athletes. In our honest opinion this game may have been over coached given the score of the game and the pace we know these players are high level with ability to put more points on the board than a combined 78pts every possession seemed like a grind or a play call looking for one option. The low score could have have been the result of the best playing the best and cancelling each other out we will give the benefit of the doubt to the kids and blame the coaches for over handling this game ..
Best Players on the floor in the Final Game regardless of Team and outcome :
1. AJ McNish
2. Grant Adu
3. #11 - Oakwood
4. #3 Henry Carr
5. #3 Oakwood PG
6. #14 Oakwood - Brody Clark
7. Marcus Bonnick
The above players all rose to the occasion during last nights game.
From an upside perspective - Grant Adu and A.J McNish were the most talented players on the court last night for either team easily everyone could see it in the gym. Critical mistake for Carr was not playing them together earlier sooner and more often in the game last night.
All in all the event was great the kids played there hearts out and the outcome was never certain a great Championship game experience.
